Getting Started on Your New Website

To ensure your new website is built in a timely fashion, we need the following:

In order to ensure your new website is built in a timely fashion, we need the following:

Finalize your Site Map

Much like a good landscape drawing/plan is needed for a successful install, a site map ensures that we are on the same page as to the main navigation and key functionality for your site. A sample site map follows:

The agreed upon site map is including in the Website Development and Hosting Agreement.

Execute Contract

We will send our standard Website Hosting and Development Agreement for signature via DocuSign.

Send Initial Payment

Payments are due upon receipt of invoice. Initial Invoice is paid via ACH from the electronic QuickBooks invoice. A 3% fee will be added for credit card payments.

Send Initial Content Via Questionnaire

Once we have signed our website development agreement, we will send out a questionnaire asking for the information and files we will need to get started on your website. Please start pulling this information together.

Logo

Please submit the original design file (vector artwork) if at all possible. If you don't have vector artwork, a high-resolution JPG or PDF file will work.

Images

Please have 2 or 3 high-resolution images (2,000+ pixels) to be used for your home slide show. Of course, you will be able to change them at any time in the future with your Clarity Console tools, but we like to set up your site with relevant images.

Most horizontal smartphone images will meet quality and size requirements. Please note, some email applications size down image files when sent. Submitting the images via the questionnaire will ensure the original file quality is maintained.

If you are unsure if your images meet the required size, you can check here:

Graphics Standards

If you have a graphics standards guide, please submit that with your survey.

Colors

You will be able to change you website color scheme via your Clarity Console administration tools at any time. However, if you have an initial preference, let us know and we'll implement them before your initial training. You can select colors and see the corresponding HEX number with this tool, https://htmlcolors.com/google-color-picker.

If you have a primary color but are struggling to come up with complimentary colors,  use this online solution to generate complementary colors, mycolor.space/.

Still struggling? You can ask our designer to select the colors for you.

SSL Protection

We cannot release a website without a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) certificate. There are strict guidelines on how an SSL is issued that cannot be changed. The request for the SSL must go to one of the following 5 email addresses on your domain:

  • admin@....
  • administrator@....
  • hostmaster@....
  • webmaster@....
  • postmaster@....

For example, if your website URL is AcmeGardenCenter.com, the SSL request MUST BE SENT TO admin@AcmeGardenCenter.com, or adminstration@AcmeGardenCenter.com or hostmaster@AcmeGardenCenter.com, etc. If none of the 5 email addresses exists, have your email administrator setup 'admin@....'.

If you only use GMAIL, AOL, Yahoo, etc. for email, we can set up an admin@.... address for you. This will be billed at an additional $3 per month.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a great way to track your most popular website pages and see how your customers interact with your site.

If you do not have access to a Google Analytics (GA4) account that was linked to your previous website, you will need to set up a new account. The steps are detailed here https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/9304153?hl=en.

We will need to add the Google Measurement ID to your web pages to begin seeing data in your new Google Analytics 4 property. Please send the Measurement ID to support@clarity-connect.com. Our developer will implement it for your website.

Once the site is live, you will be able to login to Google Analytics to view the stats on your website.

Prepare Plant Data

Your sales rep will work with you to get your plant data to run through our reconciler to quickly build your online plant library

Schedule Online Training

In roughly 7-10 work days after receiving your logo, images for the home page, etc., your new site infrastructure will be ready and online training will be scheduled. You will work on your new site on our Preview Server.

Work on Site Content

After training, you will work on adding content to your site on our PREVIEW Server. This site is only accessible via the URL we provide. 'The World' will not see it until it is launched on our LIVE server.

Test Site Thoroughly

Although we test all sites as part of our standard operating procedures, it is imperative that you test the website functionality thoroughly. This ensures two things:

  • The site is working as expected and when released, your customers will not have any issues.
  • Your staff will know exactly how the site operates so they can better promote  it to your customers

Testing is not limited to, but should certainly include the following:

  • Submitting a wholesale account application. It will need to be approved in your Client Editor.
    • Ensure email confirmation of application submitted is correct
  • Login to the wholesale section of the site (after your application is approved)
    • Ensure email notification of application approved is correct
  • Place order for pickup
    • Ensure that any ordering rules (minimum order allowed, how quickly order can be picked up, volume discounts, customer discounts, etc) are working properly.
    • Confirm email notification of order request received is correct.
  • Place order for delivery
    • Ensure that any ordering rules (minimum order allowed, how quickly order can be picked up, volume discounts, customer discounts, etc) are working properly.
    • Confirm email notification of order request received is correct.

Prepare Marketing/Promotion to Announce New Website

We encourage our customers to start promoting their new website a couple of weeks before it will be launched.

Approve Site for Release

After adding content and thoroughly testing your new site, you will approve your site for release. We need 48 hours notice and we only release new sites Monday - Thursday (no sites released on Fridays or weekends).

Celebrate!

Start enjoying the benefits of your new Grower Website Solution that will help you sell more plants, more profitably.

Overall Project Timeline

Your new site can be ready in 4-6 weeks if you are very responsive and work on your site content and test it in a timely manner. Most of our customers end up needing 7-9 weeks before they are ready to launch their new site.
